Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking an experienced Lactation Consultant to provide breastfeeding support and education to mothers and infants at Milford Regional Medical Center. The role enhances lactation knowledge among nursing staff and contributes to breastfeeding standards.

The position requires MA RN licensure, IBLCE certification, CPR, and at least 2 years of breastfeeding experience. A signing bonus may be available, and Mayo standards emphasize respect and equity across the team.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited school for Registered Nurses.
• MA RN license must be current.
• IBLCE certification required.
• CPR certification required.
• Minimum of 2 years' experience with breastfeeding patients.
• Demonstrated clinical lactation expertise.

Responsibilities

• Assess breastfeeding mothers' needs for instruction, problem resolution, and discharge follow-up.
• Develop and document individualized plans of care for each patient consultation.
• Create and maintain educational curricula for prenatal classes, inpatient education, and staff competency in collaboration with Maternity leadership.
• Evaluate mother/infant needs and adjust care plans accordingly.
• Provide outpatient breastfeeding support and manage the breast pump rental program.
• Organize assignments to meet patient care needs and assist peers as needed.
