Job summary

UMass Memorial Health Milford Regional Medical Center is seeking a lactation consultant registered nurse to provide breastfeeding support and education to mothers and infants. You will develop and document individualized plans of care, and collaborate with maternity leadership to create curricula for prenatal classes and staff training.

The role requires MA RN licensure, IBLCE certification, CPR, and at least 2 years of breastfeeding patient experience.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school for Registered Nurses.
Massachusetts RN license is required.
Certification by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners (IBLCE) is required.
Current CPR certification is required.

Responsibilities

Assess breastfeeding mothers’ needs for instruction, problem resolution, and discharge follow-up.
Develop and document individualized plans of care for each patient consultation.
Create and maintain educational curricula for prenatal classes, inpatient education, and staff competency in collaboration with Maternity leadership.
Evaluate mother/infant needs and adjust care plans accordingly.
Provide outpatient breastfeeding support and manage the breast pump rental program.
Organize assignments to meet patient care needs and assist peers as needed.
