Qualifications

• 2 years Maternal and Child Health or lactation consulting experience preferred.
• IBCLC certification at hire or within 2 years.
• BLS certification required per policy.
• Knowledge of AAP guidelines for lactation care.
• Collaborates with maternal nursing staff to ensure consistent information.

Responsibilities

• Provide breastfeeding education to patients and families based on current guidelines.
• Assist with management of patients with complex breastfeeding problems.
• Deliver lactation discharge teaching and resources for ongoing support.
• Educate within the Childbirth Education Program and continue post-discharge consultations.
• Create policies and procedures within the Breastfeeding scope.
