Job summary

Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic LabVIEW Test Development Engineer Consultant for a 6 month to 1 year, on-site role based in Batesburg, SC. You will support test development, data systems, and process improvements within a fast-paced environment.

The ideal candidate brings LabVIEW and TestStand experience, strong troubleshooting, and the ability to collaborate with R&D and manufacturing teams to define and implement test requirements for new products.

Qualifications

• Experience with LabVIEW and TestStand for test development and automation.
• Ability to work with data systems and SQL-based test data maintenance.
• Proficiency with Microsoft 360 applications and basic software editing.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the implementation of assigned actions per the manufacturing action plan.
• Collaborate with test and IT resources to keep test software and data systems operating correctly.
• Communicate issues to R&D and update documentation as needed.
• Support analysis and continuous improvement of production test yield and root cause analysis.
• Assist technology transfers of test processes across the global supply chain.
• Define test requirements and create test processes for new products as part of NPI teams.
• Ensure implementation of new test processes and tools per action plans.

Job description

HITACHI RAIL is looking for an enthusiastic self-motivated LabView Test Development Engineer Consultant who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate is comfortable performing a wide range of tasks from administrative to strategic.

This will be a 6 month - 1 year long contract.

This is a 100% on-site role based in Batesburg, SC. No remote work is possible.

Accountabilities:

• Ensure the implementation of assigned actions as per the manufacturing action plan (i.e., audit, failure analysis, improvement plan, etc.)
• Work with internal and external test and IT resources to ensure test software and data systems (based on SQL database server) are operating correctly with data maintenance as required.
• Communicate issues to R&D department for assigned activities and submit forms and markups for documentation updates.
• Support analysis and continuous improvement of production test yield, working to identify root cause and propose solutions.
• Support technology transfers of test processes across the global supply chain.
• Support definition of test requirements, and test process creation for new products as part of new product introduction team.
• Ensure the implementation of new test process and tools as per assigned action plans.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Experience with NI LabVIEW and Test stand
• Proficient with Microsoft 360 applications – Word, Excel, Teams, etc.
• Basic understanding software writing and editing experience/skills.
• Problem anticipation and solving techniques, strong at troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of electronics and analyzing electrical schematics.
• Mechanically oriented, able to use common tools for disassembly & reassembly of various pieces of test equipment.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Previous internships within with a manufacturing environment (e.g., printed circuit board manufacturing and assembly, electromechanical assembly, casting, forging, machining, tooling, and fixture design)
• Strong skills in Microsoft Windows based pc hardware and software (98, XP, 7, 10)
• Networking setup and troubleshooting

Education:

• Bachelor’s Degree in mechanical, electrical, computer science, software, or other appropriate Engineering science disciples with preference for electrical engineering
