Job summary

Gusto is seeking an Operations Lead, internally called Labs Lead, to design and run Benefits Labs—Gusto’s system for testing, validating, and scaling operational change. You will own the full Labs lifecycle, from intake through leadership-ready recommendations, with AI-driven workflows and evidence synthesis at the core of decision-making.

Qualifications

• 4+ years in operations, program management, or business ops in SaaS/tech.
• Experience designing and deploying AI agents, automations, or workflows.

Responsibilities

• Own intake and triage of AI-powered requests.
• Lead pilot governance with metrics and clear success criteria.
• Raise design quality and ensure standards remain high.
• Build and extend the Labs lifecycle architecture and automation.
• Identify systemic inefficiencies and convert to scalable AI workflows.
• Develop analytical narratives to guide leadership decisions.
• Coordinate across product, engineering, operations, and business partners.
• Lead discussions on complex topics and drive next steps.
• Produce leadership-ready readouts, post-mortems, and recommendations.
