Job Summary

This role involves safe and efficient traffic control and laboring at road construction sites. CDL-A license is required, and operation of CDL-required vehicles may be involved. Manual tasks are performed following safety guidelines. This is a union position.

Main Responsibilities

1. Perform all work safely, maintaining an excellent safety environment.
2. Participate in daily safety huddles.
3. Set up and take down temporary work zones efficiently.
4. Manage traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) to ensure safety.
5. Assist in backing and dumping tri-axles and milling machines.
6. Shovel asphalt and aggregate materials.
7. Lute/rake asphalt and aggregates.
8. Handle hot liquid asphalt and various materials.
9. Remove old asphalt, concrete, and other materials using jackhammers or cut-off saws.
10. Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones.
11. Seal end joints.
12. Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed.
13. Compact materials with small hand rollers and vibratory plates.

Education

• Experience preferred; on-the-job training available.
• CDL-A license required.

Physical Requirements

• Work long shifts, up to 7 days a week if necessary.
• Willing to work night shifts when applicable.
• Stand, walk, and move for long periods.
• Lift up to 50 pounds.

• Perform tasks involving bending, twisting, scooping.
• Shovel and rake asphalt.
