Job summary

Aafes in Anchorage is seeking a Laborer (Stocker) to unload, stock, price merchandise, and help maintain a clean, welcoming store. You will help deliver an extraordinary shopping experience for our customers.

Night shifts, ability to lift up to 40 pounds, strong customer service, and basic computer skills are required. Previous convenience-store experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Education: High school or equivalent.
• Able to lift up to 40 pounds (occasional up to 50 pounds).
• Basic computer skills and proficiency with store tech.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Previous Convenience Store/Gas Station experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Unload, move, stock, and price merchandise across departments.
• Provide friendly customer service and meet shoppers' needs.
• Maintain store cleanliness and perform minor maintenance as needed.

• Work with overnight stocking crew when required.

Job description

As a Laborer (Stocker) at the Exchange, you are responsible for efficiently unloading, moving, stocking, and pricing merchandise which ranges across a wide variety of items across all departments. You will perform minor facility maintenance and contribute to the cleanliness of the store, both inside and out. You are on the front lines of ensuring our customers have an extraordinary shopping experience – without you, there would be nothing on the shelves!

So what can you expect as a Laborer (Stocker) – Express at the Exchange?

• Follow all safety guidelines and operating procedures
• Deliver extraordinary customer experience by engaging customers and prioritizing customer needs over tasks
• Unload, break-out and stock merchandise with efficiency and accuracy
• Listen to customer needs; ask appropriate follow-up questions to ensure you offer appropriate products that meet the specific need of the customer
• Under close supervision of the manager or other designated supervisor, replenishes stock on the sales floor as part of the early morning stocking crew. Performs a variety of manual tasks involving moderately heavy physical effort.

Job Qualifications

Education: High school or equivalent. Creditable job-related experience may be substituted for the education requirement on a 9 months for 9 months basis. If a sufficient number of qualified candidates do not apply, the minimum qualifications may be lowered without reposting.
