Job summary

Con Yeager Spice Company in New Castle, PA is seeking a Laborer/Production associate for our packaging room. The role focuses on preparing product, filling containers, labeling, packaging and wrapping.

You will follow directions, operate filling and sealing equipment, and ensure containers match batch tickets. The position offers a climate-controlled environment, benefits including health and dental insurance, PTO, and a four-day, 6:00 AM–4:30 PM work week.

Qualifications

• One year of general work experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must be able to stand 6–10 hours and lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assemble and label boxes for plastic containers.
• Adhere labels onto containers via machine or by hand.
• Load product from large drums into containers using a scoop.
• Ensure packaging matches batch tickets.
• Operate filling and sealing equipment.
• Run containers through metal detector.
• Package and box finished products for shipping.
• Refill large drums with product.
• Maintain a clean and neat work area.
• Perform other general labor duties as assigned.

Job Summary - Laborer/Production

For nearly 100 years, Con Yeager Spice Co. is a family-owned and operated spice-distributing and seasoning-manufacturing company, serving commercial and retail customers. Our roots are, and continue to be, strongly anchored in the meat-processing industry. We are seeking an additional person for our packaging room. The laborer/production position duties are primarily associated with preparation of product (spices) to include but not limited to filling containers, applying labels. Packaging and wrapping of product.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities - Laborer/Production

• Assemble and label boxes for plastic containers
• Adhere labels onto plastic containers via machine or by hand
• Use a hand scoop to load product, a seasoning or seasoning blend, from a large drum into small to large containers
• Ensure product packed into container matches batch ticket
• Use filling machine to fill containers then run filled containers through induction sealer machine
• Run filled containers through metal detector
• Place filled, labeled, and sealed containers into shipping boxes
• Refill large drums with product
• Keep work area clean and neat
• Other general laborer duties as assigned

Required Skills/Abilities - Laborer/Production

• Ability to follow directions
• Speak and read English
• Ability to assess products for quality compliance
• Time management skills i.e. ability to work at a steady pace
• Basic understanding of principles and processes of packaging
• Ability to physically perform tasks of the position (see physical demands)
• Good attendance is a high priority

Education and Experience - Laborer/Production

• One year of general work experience preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Working Environment

• Climate controlled manufacturing environment
• Exposure to airborne particles (spices)
• Beard nets (when applicable), hairnets, gloves, and frocks must be worn at all times In production area
• Masks may be necessary due to room conditions

Physical Demands - Laborer/Production

• Standing or walking for up to 6 to 10 hours
• Sitting for up to 1 to 2 hours (rarely)
• Bending and light to heavy lifting up to approximately 50 pounds
• Repetition of tasks

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work - Laborer/Production

• Full time, Non-Exempt (hourly)
• Monday - Thursday 6:00AM - 4:30PM (4 day work week)
