Job summary

Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. is seeking a Laborer to support field crews on highway, grading and concrete work in Chesterfield, VA. This safety-sensitive role involves carrying materials, helping with traffic control, and basic site cleanup.

Open to travel and reporting to field supervision, you will work with the project team to meet deadlines while following safety policies; a HS diploma or relevant experience is preferred and reliable transportation is required.

Position: Laborer

Location:Chesterfield, VA

We are currently seeking a Laborer to join our Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. team.Reporting to direct field supervision,the Laborer is responsible for all project related tasks requested, including but not limited to carrying materials and heavy objects, stacking materials, cleaning of job site, assisting with grading operations, assisting with maintenance of traffic, chipping concrete. This position works along with the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction tasks and ensures all plans move forward to meet projected deadlines. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED preferred; can be replaced with relevant work experience
• Reliable transportation
• Familiar with grading, concrete, highway, and/or bridge construction and all other highway construction scopes.

• Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Job duties and responsibilities include:

• Carry, load, unload and stack materials.
• Lay out material and assist experienced crew members.
• Dig with pick and shovel.
• Assist with maintenance of traffic to include but not limited to setting out and picking up cones, assisting with lane closures, flagging.
• Assist with dirt and grading operations.
• Shovel, rake, spread and vibrate concrete into place.
• Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on project as needed.
• Jackhammer and saw cut concrete.
• Clean up project site of debris.

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout a scheduled work shift.
• Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.
• Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.
• Must be able to climb ladders.
• Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl.
• Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.
• Position requires acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing.
• It also requires the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height—and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces.
