Summary
This position is located within the Fort Gordon Business Operations Division-Golf Course.
Duties
- Mows grass, lays sod. weeds flowerbeds, trims and edges walkways and lawns.
- Prunes shrubs and trees; applies fertilizer, waters plants, cleans out drainage ditches, shovels snow from walks and driveways.
- Digs, fills and tamps soil and gravel in earth excavations; levels ground using pock, shovel, tamper and rake.
- Adjusts, cleans, oils and changes attachments on machines.
- Maintains stock of cleaning materials and implements used; and notifies supervisor when additional materials are needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Direct Deposit and Social Security Card is required.

- Must be available nights, weekends and holidays.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered or exempt from Selective Service, see www.sss.gov.

- Satisfactory completion of pre-employment background checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2
- Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities.
- Must be able to frequently lift and carry moderate to heavy objects up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to actively bend, stop, stand, reach, and work in awkward positions.

A Qualified Candidate Must Possess The Following
- Three (3) months of laboring experience required.
- Must have the ability to use, control, and clean tools and power equipment used.
- Have the ability to follow oral and/or written instructions involving duties with several distinct tasks or steps without constant supervisor of each task assigned.

Allowances and Differentials
- This job falls under the Federal Wage Schedule (FWS) pay system. FWS employees earn overtime pay for working more than 8 hours in a day or more than 40 hours in a week -- whichever gives the employee more benefit. Regular full-time, regular part-time, and regularly scheduled flexible employees may receive Sunday premium pay for working on Sundays. Employees may also be eligible to receive extra pay if the majority of their scheduled hours falls after 3:00 PM.
