Job description

These crews are responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and collaborating with their team to complete daily tasks.

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.00

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work.
• Assist equipment operators, perform swamping, hand digging, and locate underground obstructions.
• Operate specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, and power actuated fasteners.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate equipment alignment, movement, and adjustments.
• Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks.
• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.

Success Factors:

• Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often in adverse weather conditions.
• Lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a shift.
• Climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, and perform walking, stooping, and kneeling tasks.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Work independently and collaboratively with co-workers.
• Pass motor vehicle, criminal background checks, and comply with drug-free policies.
• Use English sufficiently to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple reports.
• Willing to learn additional skills.

Experience and Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with underground utilities is desired.
• CDL A license is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.
• Pass criminal background, Motor Vehicle Record (MVR), and pre-employment drug screening.
