Job description

These crews are responsible for going into residential and commercial areas working on underground utilities and collaborating with their crew to complete daily tasks.

Pay Rate: $20.00 - $22.00

Essential Functions:

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• Assist the crew leader in construction, reconstruction, and maintenance work.
• Support equipment operators, perform swamping, hand digging, and locate underground obstructions.
• Operate specialized equipment including jackhammers, rotary drills, power actuated fasteners, and other necessary tools.
• Signal equipment operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery, equipment, and materials.
• Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, and dump trucks.
• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate hazards.

Success Factors:

• Perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often in adverse weather conditions.
• Lift up to 80 lbs multiple times during a shift.
• Climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, and perform walking, stooping, and kneeling tasks.
• Understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Pass motor vehicle, criminal background checks, and comply with drug-free workplace policies.
• Maintain sufficient English skills to keep records, place orders, and prepare simple reports.
• Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.

Experience and Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with underground utilities preferred.
• CDL A license is a plus.
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

• Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid State Driver’s License within two weeks of employment.
• Pass criminal and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background checks and a pre-employment drug screen.
