Job summary

Challenge Unlimited in Mascoutah, IL seeks a Laborer to support grounds maintenance and outdoor work with an integrated team. The role includes early morning hours and on-call snow removal duties, with driving required.

The schedule is AM shift, 6:30 am – 2:30 pm, Monday through Friday; summer hours may differ. Will drive company vehicles as needed and must pass background checks.

Qualifications

• Must pass criminal background check and state/federal registry checks.
• Must be 21 or older to drive.
• On-call for snow removal.

Responsibilities

• Performs grounds maintenance and landscaping duties at the assigned site.
• Mows, trims, edges and blows/sweeps grass using mowers, trimmers, edgers and blowers.
• May plant sod, shrubs, flowers, trees and landscape materials; pruning, raking, mulching and watering.
• Operates equipment and performs minor maintenance of filing fluids, greasing, cleaning, replacing string or sharpening blades.
• May drive Company vehicles or small riding mowers, transport, load and unload equipment and supplies.
• Contributes to teamwork by training and helping co-workers, communicating needs to the supervisor, and implementing feedback for improvement.
• Maintains safety, quality and customer service.
• Removes snow including shoveling, spreading ice melt, ice chipping/scraping, and use of snow removal equipment.

Position Summary:

Reporting to the Project Manager or Supervisor, the Laborer is responsible for performing work-related opportunities that allow people who have different abilities to work with integrated teams and receive work support and development as needed—achieving the highest level of independence possible.
Driving will be required

• Schedule: $18.77Hr. - AM Shift, "On Call Snow Removal"
• Monday - Friday 6:30 am - 2:30 (Summer Hours may different)

• May be assigned to plant sod, shrubs, flowers, trees and/or landscape materials like blocks, pavers, and rock. Includes pruning, raking, applying, or removing mulch and watering.
• Safely operates equipment and helps perform minor maintenance of filing fluids, greasing, cleaning, replacing string or sharpening blades.
• May be assigned to drive Company vehicles or small riding mowers, transport, load and unload equipment and supplies.
• Contributes to teamwork by training and helping co-workers, communicating needs to the supervisor, and implementing feedback for improvement.
• Continually performs duties with a special focus on safety, quality, and customer service.
• Removes snow including shoveling, spreading ice melt, ice chipping/scraping, and use of a snow blower or other snow removal equipment.

Requirements:

• Must pass criminal background check. Must pass various State and Federal registry checks. Must pass DCFS Abuse and Neglect Tracking System check.
• Preferred: pass driving history check and Company policy criteria. Must maintain a valid driver’s license and be 21 or older to drive.
• Frequently standing, walking, bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting while mowing, trimming, blowing, raking, pruning, planting, and performing other related grounds maintenance duties. Company travel using a personal insured vehicle is not required.
• On call for snow removal
