Job summary

RTX Corporation in Vieques, Puerto Rico, is seeking a Grounds Maintenance Worker for an onsite role supporting ROTHR facility operations. You will perform routine site cleaning, lawn care, and simple maintenance of lawn equipment, ensuring grounds are well kept and compliant with safety standards.

The position requires a HS diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant experience, plus six months of grounds maintenance work and a clean driving record.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED; minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
• At least six months combined practical Grounds Maintenance experience.
• Clean motor vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
• If employed >12 months, qualify as Registered Technician for State Certified Pesticide Applicator.

For over 30 years, Raytheon operates and maintains the Navy’s three Relocatable Over The Horizon Radars (ROTHR). Each radar consists of a remote transmit and receive site. All radars are operated from the Consolidated Operations Control Center in Chesapeake, Virginia. Each radar is capable of covering over four million square miles across the Caribbean, Eastern Pacific, Central, and South America with all systems manned and operated 24 hours a day. The ROTHR mission is primarily to track and report the movement of aircraft and ships carrying illicit narcotics from South America toward Central America and the United States.

This position is on a service contract with a set (non-negotiable) hourly rate of $17.75/hour. In addition, a Health & Welfare benefit is paid at $6.00/hour.

What You Will Do

• Perform routine cleaning of all areas of the site facilities.
• Operate and perform simple maintenance on lawn equipment as needed. Provide labor support to site projects and upgrades.
• Maintain the grounds of the ROTHR facilities to include cutting grass, trimming hedges, edging, pruning shrubs, planting grass, spreading fertilizer, application of pesticides, and corrosion control.
• Candidate will perform all other related duties as assigned and required.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires HS diploma (or equivalent, e.g. G.E.D. in the US) or vocational/technical education in related discipline with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
• Applicant must have at least six months combined practical Grounds Maintenance experience.
• Applicant must have a clean motor vehicle driving record to obtain authorization to drive company vehicles.
• If employed an excess of 12 months, the selected candidate must be able to qualify as a Registered Technician for State Certified Pesticide Applicator.

Qualifications We Prefer

• Current Registered State Pesticide Applicator.
• Previous or current security clearance.
• Applicant must have the ability to comprehend and carry out the instructions outlined in written procedures with little supervision.
