Laborer Co-Op - Charlotte, NC (Finance)

Description

Messer Construction Co. is an award-winning construction manager and general contractor that provides leadership for complex commercial building projects. We are currently accepting applications for Laborer Co-Ops seeking to advance their construction careers. The ideal candidate will have knowledge of commercial construction and remodeling practices, as well as a comprehensive understanding of procedures, techniques, tools, equipment, materials, specifications, quality and cost control measures, and safety requirements associated with commercial building.

Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

1. General and final cleanup
2. Distribution/cleanup of power hand-tools, extension cords, generators
3. Dewatering activities, set-up water pumps and hoses
4. Manual moving of formwork, lumber, rebar, and accessories
5. Hand excavation and backfill
6. Hand grade sub-base
7. Place vapor barrier and insulation
8. Place and tie rebar
9. Place concrete using various methods (truck, pump, bucket, conveyor)
10. Finish concrete (raking, screeding, edging, broom finish)
11. Vibrate concrete
12. Place concrete blankets
13. Strip, wreck, clean, and oil formwork
14. Perform demolition tasks (masonry, drywall, partitions, ceilings, finishes)
15. Use demolition tools: jackhammer, air tools, sledgehammer
16. Operate cutoff saw and cutting torch
17. Other tasks as directed by supervisor

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Minimum of three years' experience in commercial construction
• Reliable transportation
• Willingness to work within a 50-mile radius
• Ability to work in various seasonal and weather conditions
