Job Title: Labor Supervisor
Under direction, supervises and works with a group of laborers engaged in manual and unskilled work; performs related duties as required.
Responsibilities:
- Supervises and works with laborers engaged in activities such as sweeping streets, loading, lifting, and moving supplies, furniture, or equipment, and loading/unloading trucks.
- Provides assignments and instructions to staff, supervises their performance, and inspects completed work for quality and output.
- Supervises and performs tasks including digging trenches, manual grading, cleaning incinerators, collecting rubbish, cutting grass, trimming hedges, watering lawns and flowers, loading/unloading trucks, shoveling snow, whitewashing walls, shoveling gravel and sand, mixing cement and mortar, placing forms in concrete work, cold patching, clearing underbrush, cutting down trees, and removing tree stumps.
- May operate construction and maintenance equipment and distribute asphalt mixtures for surface repairs.
- Loads debris into trucks for removal and sorts salvageable materials.
- Gives assignments to individuals and groups, supervises their work, and ensures safety precautions are followed.
- Obtains, stores, safeguards, and supervises the use of equipment, materials, and supplies.
Requirements:
- Two (2) years of experience in manual laboring work.
- Valid driver's license in New Jersey is required if vehicle operation is necessary for the job. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and endorsements may be required depending on the vehicle used.
- The responsibility for ensuring employees possess the required licenses rests with the Appointing Authority.
