Job description

Job Title: Labor Supervisor

Under direction, supervises and works with a group of laborers engaged in manual and unskilled work; performs related duties as required.

Responsibilities:

1. Supervises and works with laborers engaged in activities such as sweeping streets, loading, lifting, and moving supplies, furniture, or equipment, and loading/unloading trucks.
2. Provides assignments and instructions to staff, supervises their performance, and inspects completed work for quality and output.
3. Supervises and performs tasks including digging trenches, manual grading, cleaning incinerators, collecting rubbish, cutting grass, trimming hedges, watering lawns and flowers, loading/unloading trucks, shoveling snow, whitewashing walls, shoveling gravel and sand, mixing cement and mortar, placing forms in concrete work, cold patching, clearing underbrush, cutting down trees, and removing tree stumps.
4. May operate construction and maintenance equipment and distribute asphalt mixtures for surface repairs.
5. Loads debris into trucks for removal and sorts salvageable materials.
6. Gives assignments to individuals and groups, supervises their work, and ensures safety precautions are followed.
7. Obtains, stores, safeguards, and supervises the use of equipment, materials, and supplies.

Requirements:

• Two (2) years of experience in manual laboring work.
• Valid driver's license in New Jersey is required if vehicle operation is necessary for the job. A valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and endorsements may be required depending on the vehicle used.
• The responsibility for ensuring employees possess the required licenses rests with the Appointing Authority.
