Description

Under direction, supervises and works with a group of laborers engaged in manual and unskilled work; does other related duties as required.

Examples of Duties

• Supervises and works with a group of laborers engaged in sweeping streets, loading, lifting, and moving supplies, furniture, or equipment, and/or loading and unloading trucks and other manual labor tasks.
• Provides assignments and instructions to staff, supervises their work, inspects, and checks completed work for quality and output.
• Supervises and performs tasks such as digging trenches, manual grading, cleaning incinerators, rubbish collection, lawn care, loading/unloading trucks, snow shoveling, wall whitewashing, gravel and sand shoveling, cement and mortar mixing, concrete form placement, cold patching, clearing underbrush, cutting down trees, stump removal, and poisonous plant removal.
• May operate construction and maintenance equipment.
• May distribute asphalt mixtures for surface repairs.
• Loads debris into trucks for removal.
• Sorts, piles, and cleans salvageable materials.
• Gives assignments and supervises work performance.
• Ensures safety precautions are followed.
• Obtains, stores, and supervises equipment, materials, and supplies.

Typical Qualifications

Experience: Two (2) years of manual laboring work.

License: Valid driver's license in New Jersey required if vehicle operation is necessary. May require a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) and endorsements depending on vehicle operation.
