Job summary

The Tepa Companies, a tribally owned firm serving federal, state, local, and private clients, is seeking Laborers to perform physical construction tasks at active sites across the Mountain States region. You will work on diverse tasks while supporting project teams and maintaining safety standards.

With 2+ years in general construction and familiarity with hand and power tools, you will help read plans, prepare sites, and assist with material handling. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of general construction experience, including exposure to utility work, earth work, or concrete work.
• Knowledge of power and hand tools and equipment used on construction sites.
• Knowledge of excavation and backfilling methods and safety practices (OSHA).
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check per federal regulation.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Identifies and operates hand and power tools as needed on site.
• Reads and interprets construction plans, instructions, and specifications.
• Cleans and prepares construction sites and eliminates hazards.
• Controls passing traffic and signals equipment operators.
• Assists with loading, transporting, unloading, and furnishing materials.
• Restocks supplies and materials as necessary.
• Identifies and follows safe working procedures and stops unsafe practices.
• Performs other physical labor tasks such as digging, backfilling, mixing concrete, and erecting scaffolding.

LOCATION: This position will support our Mountain States Region. You may be assigned to work at various project sites in the region as business needs require.

Pay range: $19.81 - $30.76 per hour + per diem for travelers 95+ miles from the job site.

About The Job

The Tepa Companies are seeking Laborers to perform tasks involving physical labor at active construction sites.

Job Functions

• Identifies and operates hand and power tools as needed, including air hammers, earth tampers, concrete mixers, small mechanical hoists, saws, power drills, skid steers, forklifts, and a variety of other equipment and instruments.
• Reads and interprets construction plans, instructions, and specifications.
• Cleans and prepares construction sites to eliminate possible hazards, including rubble and debris.
• Controls passing traffic.
• Signals Equipment Operators to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of equipment.
• Assists with loading, transporting, unloading, and furnishing materials, tools, and supplies.
• Restocks worksite supplies and materials as necessary.
• Identifies and follows safe working procedures.
• Identifies and stops unsafe work practices that present imminent danger to themselves and others.
• Performs other physical labor and responsibilities as assigned, including, but not limited to digging ditches and trenches, backfilling excavations, sealing structural components, measuring and recording areas, unloading and identifying materials, assembling and erecting equipment such as scaffolding, pouring concrete, setting braces to support the sides of excavations.

What We’re Looking For

• 2+ years of general construction experience, including exposure to utility work, earth work, and/or concrete work
• Knowledge of and ability to use power and hand tools, materials, and other equipment used on construction sites
• Knowledge of excavation and backfilling methods, practices, and procedures
• Knowledge of safety practices and procedures specific to labor work, including OSHA standards
• Exposure to trench safety, excavation safety, and other applicable safety standards
• Ability to pass a drug screen and back ground check in compliance with federal regulation.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license
