Job summary

Summerset Marine Construction is hiring for a role that installs and removes piers, boat lifts, and related accessories from shore and water. You will work with hand tools and machinery to support marine structures, prioritizing safety and efficiency in challenging weather conditions.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and a willingness to work near water. CDL A, MVR clean, and CPR/First Aid are pluses.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license required with clean MVR; CDL A preferred.
  • Experience in marine or construction environment is advantageous.
  • Ability to swim and comfort working on or near water.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, basic carpentry, and machinery.
  • Boaters Safety; CPR/First Aid is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in construction, maintenance, and dismantling of docks, piers, and marine structures.
  • Load, unload, and distribute building materials and equipment for daily operations.
  • Operate hand and power tools; maintain and store tools properly.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on small boats; assist in barge operations.
  • Follow safety procedures; wear personal flotation devices and safety gear.
  • Set up and remove scaffolding and temporary structures at job sites.
  • Clean sites; remove debris and waste from barges and waterways.
  • Collaborate with team to complete projects efficiently; perform other duties as needed.

Summerset Marine Construction has been providing a full range of lakefront services to its customers in Southeast Wisconsin since 1990. As the largest pier and lift dealer in Wisconsin, Summerset has grown over the years along with its customers’ needs, able to provide the expertise and products necessary for the perfect waterfront solution. Servicing hundreds of clients from Madison to Milwaukee, Summerset Marine provides the highest level of expertise to design, install and support any pier and boat lift system, always on call for any service needs.

About the role

Installs and removes piers, boat lifts, and accessories from shore and water using hand tools and machinery. This role is essential to the construction, maintenance, and repair of marine structures. The work involves performing labor-intensive tasks while prioritizing safety and the ability to work effectively in diverse weather conditions and challenging environments.

What you'll do
  • Assist in the construction, maintenance, and dismantling of docks, piers, and other marine structures.
  • Load, unload, identify, and distribute building materials and equipment as needed for daily operations.
  • Operate a variety of hand and power tools, ensuring all tools are maintained and stored properly.
  • Perform routine checks and maintenance on small boats and assist in the operation of barges.
  • Follow safety procedures for all tasks, especially those requiring the use of personal flotation devices and other safety gear.
  • Participate in the setup and removal of scaffolding and temporary structures at the job sites.
  • Clean and prepare sites, including removing debris and waste materials from barges and waterways.
  • Work collaboratively with team members to complete projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, which may include tasks on land or water.

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Valid driver's license required.
  • Clean MVR
  • CDL A preferred.
  • Previous experience in a marine or construction environment is highly advantageous.
  • Ability to swim and comfort working on or near water.
  • Familiarity with hand tools, basic carpentry, and machinery.
  • Boaters Safety.
  • Certification in CPR and first aid is a plus.

The pay range for this role is:

21.25 - 28 USD per hour (Summerset - Whitewater)
