Job summary

Doug's Underground Service, a MPS Group, Inc. Company in Traverse City, MI, is seeking a Laborer to support our field crews on active projects. The role involves hand digging, utility locating, and operating a mini excavator among other tasks.

Responsibilities include assisting with loading, trenching, conduit placement, site restoration, and equipment upkeep. A valid chauffeur’s license is required; a high school diploma or equivalent is preferred, with Class A CDL a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist in loading/unloading equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Support Foreman or Supervisor with job tasks.
• Operate hand and power tools safely.
• Perform hand digging to expose utilities and trenches.
• Place conduit and cables in trenches and install anchors.
• Restore worksite after completion including trench refilling.
• Clean and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
• Work in varying climates and conditions.
• Carry out other duties as assigned.

Doug's Underground Service, a MPS Group, Inc. Company is looking for a dedicated and hardworking Laborer to join our team in Traverse City, MI. This individual will be responsible for a variety of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our jobs. The role includes hand digging, utility locating, heavy equipment operation (mini excavator, drilling machine), heavy lifting, and supporting leadership on various duties.

Shift Details:

Shift: 1st Shift

Schedule: Monday- Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

Responsibilities and Job Duties:

• Assist in loading/unloading equipment, materials, and supplies for daily work.
• Support leadership (Foreman or Supervisor) with all job-related tasks.
• Operate hand & power tools safely.
• Perform hand digging to expose utilities, access vaults and pedestals, and complete trenches.
• Place conduit and/or cables in trenches, splice conduit sections, and install anchors, pedestals, vaults, etc.
• Restore worksite upon completion, including refilling trenches, tamping soil, replanting disturbed plants/shrubs, and applying temporary asphalt on streets.
• Clean and maintain company vehicles and equipment.
• Able to perform physically demanding tasks in various climates and conditions.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements and Qualifications:

• Chauffeur’s license required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Class A CDL.
