Job summary

UCLA Facilities Management is seeking a Laborer to perform outdoor maintenance across the 419-acre campus. You will help preserve the health and beauty of lawns, walkways, courtyards, plazas, gardens and athletic fields under close supervision.

Working as part of a team, you will follow written orders, communicate clearly, and uphold safety standards. This role requires flexibility to work overtime and weekends as needed.

Salary & Compensation

*UCLA provides a full pay range. Actual salary offers consider factors, including budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. Qualifications

• Equipment Working knowledge of equipment and materials used by the various trades, e.g., pick, shovel, sledge hammer, and a variety of garden / yard tools. (Required)
• Ability to work as part of a team through close collaboration with colleagues. (Required)
• Skill in reading standard English text in order to follow through on written orders and carry out assignments. (Required)
• Communication and writing skills to obtain or convey clear, concise and grammatically correct information. (Required)
• Working knowledge of the standard trade-related safety practices and methods. (Required)
• Ability to work overtime and weekends. (Required)
• Ability to skillfully operate a forklift and pallet jack in order to transport materials and equipment from loading sites to destination. (Preferred)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal Affiliations

• Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA noncommercial Class C License in accordance with the California (CA) Department of Motor Vehicles. (Required)
• Must possess, upon hire, and maintain a valid CA Driver License (Required)

Special Conditions for Employment

• Background Check: Continued employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory background investigation.
• Pre-Placement Physical: Employment is contingent upon the completion of a satisfactory physical examination.
• Driving Record: The position is subject to the California DMV "Pull Notice System" and continued employment is contingent upon proof of a satisfactory driving record.
