Job summary

SQUAN is seeking a field technician to assist with the installation and maintenance of fiber communication systems at towers, antennas, and ground equipment. The role involves loading and transporting materials, operating CDL-class trucks, and supporting ground operations such as site prep and cleanup.

Qualifications

  • DOT physical and drug screening required.
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Able to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physically demanding work.
  • Willingness to work at heights and outdoors.
  • Basic mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong work ethic and reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with installation and maintenance of fiber systems on towers, antennas, cables and ground equipment.
  • Load, transport, and unload materials and equipment to and from job sites.
  • Operate company vehicles including CDL-class trucks safely.
  • Support ground operations with site prep and cleanup.
  • Perform basic construction tasks such as digging, trenching and site restoration.
  • Follow OSHA safety protocols and conduct vehicle inspections.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition.
  • Travel to job sites as required; overnight stays possible.

Job description

  • Assist with the installation and maintenance of Fiber communication systems (cell towers, antennas, cables, and ground equipment)
  • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, and equipment to and from job sites
  • Operate company vehicles, including CDL-class trucks, in a safe and compliant manner
  • Support crews with ground operations ( site prep, cleanup, etc.)
  • Perform basic construction tasks such as digging, trenching, concrete work, and site restoration
  • Follow safety protocols, including OSHA standards and fall protection guidelines
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in good working condition
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions and terrain
  • Travel to job sites as required (may include overnight stays)
Required Qualifications
  • Ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening
  • High school diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to lift 50–75 lbs and perform physically demanding work
  • Willingness to work at heights and in outdoor environments
  • Basic mechanical aptitude
  • Strong work ethic and reliability
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, construction, or utility work
  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience operating heavy equipment (e.g., skid steer, bucket truck)
  • Knowledge of RF (radio frequency) equipment and cabling
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Outdoor job sites, including rooftops and remote tower locations
  • Exposure to weather, heights, and construction-related hazards
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand, bend, climb, and lift for extended periods
  • Comfortable working at heights (when required)
  • Manual dexterity to operate tools and equipment
  • Hourly pay based on experience
  • Per diem for travel (if applicable)
