POSITION SUMMARY
Laborers perform a wide variety of duties that often include assisting other tradespeople such as carpenters, bricklayers, drywall, and cement finishers.

- Hours: 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Hours may vary due to daylight conditions and project schedule.
- Overtime may be required.
DESCRIPTION OF TASKS: LABORERS CLASSIFICATIONS IN COMMERCIAL CONSTRUCTION
Laborers are tenders of all trades involved in the construction industry. Their duties include:
- Digging ditches, excavating piers, foundations, holes, and trenches; lagging, sheeting, cribbing, bracing, and propping foundations; work related to caissons and cofferdams, including excavation, drilling, jackhammering, blasting, shooting, and scaling.
- Loading, unloading, handling, and distributing materials, fixtures, furnishings, and appliances from delivery points to installation sites using hand tools, machinery, or power rigging.
- Cleaning and clearing debris, wire brushing windows, scraping floors, removing surplus materials, and general cleanup including sweeping, washing, and wiping down construction facilities and furnishings; washing walls, partitions, ceilings, blackboards, windows, bathrooms, kitchens, laboratories, and fixtures; mopping, waxing, polishing, and dusting floors or areas.
- Tending temporary heat sources and assisting in drying plaster, concrete, mortar, or other materials using salamanders or other drying methods.
- Tending to cement masons, brick masons, plasterers, carpenters, and other trades, including preparing and handling materials, conveying materials to work sites, and assisting in their installation.
- Conveying materials from unloading to installation points, cleaning and preparing materials, and supporting carpenters by handling forms, stakes, and finished products.
