Job summary

Mississippi Department of Employment Security in Clarksdale, MS is seeking a general laborer to perform a range of street and property maintenance duties. The role involves operating basic equipment, patching and sealing streets, and assisting with winter road clearance.

Responsibilities include checking equipment fuel and tires, cleaning garages, spreading salt for snow and ice, and using simple hand tools to prepare job sites. Other duties as assigned.

• Performs a wide variety of routing and seasonal duties to assist in the maintenance of streets and alleys and may do work in and on other City owned property.
• Checks equipment to ensure proper levels of fuel, lubricants, tires, tire pressure, and for unusual wear of equipment.
• Assists in patching and sealing streets and concrete work.
• Cleans garage area and washes trucks and equipment.
• Assists spreading salt and in clearing snow and ice from roads.
• Uses simple hand tools to prepare job site.
• Other duties as assigned.

Must possess, or be able to obtain by time of hire a valid state Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) without record of suspension or revocation in any state.

Must not have been convicted of any felony convictions or other disqualifying serious misdemeanors or possess any other disqualifying criminal history.

Must be U.S. Citizen. Must be of good moral character and temperament, and possess industrious habits.
