Job summary

Pepper Construction is hiring laborers to support our job sites across Illinois. You will load, unload and move materials, operate hand trucks, and assist with site cleanup to maintain safe, efficient work areas. Comfortable with lifting, and able to follow directions on a dynamic construction site is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Load, unload and move materials at the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks or other locations.
  • Move materials to or from storage or work sites to designated areas using a hand truck, wheelbarrow or similar device.
  • Drive equipment such as Bobcats and forklifts, perform selective demolition, concrete placement or flagging as needed.
  • Lift heavy objects by hand or with a hoist, and transport heavy supplies to and from the work area.
  • Keep the work area, machines and equipment clean using a broom, hose or blower.

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector.   • The job tasks may include, but are not limited to loading, unloading and moving materials from within or near the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks or other locations.
  • Laborers may also be asked to move materials to or from storage or work sites to designated area, using hand truck, wheelbarrow or other device.
  • Additional laborer tasks could include but are not limited to driving equipment, such as bobcats and lulls, selective demolition, concrete placement or flagging.Lifting heavy objects by hand or power hoist and carrying heavy supplies to and from work area.
  • Laborers are also responsible for cleaning work area, machines or other equipment using broom, water hose or blowers, and shoveling or raking loose materials such as dirt, sand and gravel.
