Job summary

Pepper Construction Group is seeking a construction laborer to handle loading and moving materials at sites across Ohio. The role requires safety awareness, ability to operate basic equipment, and a readiness for overtime or night shifts as needed.

Responsibilities include assisting with carpentry tasks, site cleanup, and supporting the crew to maintain project momentum. Prior commercial construction exposure is preferred, with OSHA 10 and operator certification a plus.

Job description

With offices in Illinois, Wisconsin, Indiana, and Ohio, Pepper Construction is a national general contracting and construction management firm that primarily serves the private sector. Responsibilities

• Loading, unloading, and moving materials from within or near the construction site from pallets, skids, trucks, or other locations.
• Move materials to or from storage or work sites
• Driving equipment as needed
• Selective demolition, concrete placement or flagging
• Proficient in stacking and assembling materials into bundles
• Making simple repairs and adjustments to machinery or trucks
• Work independently and with little direction
• Have initiative to find work activities when waiting for next task directive
• Assist Carpenter’s general partition layout, framing, sheet rock installation and other rough and finish carpentry work as assigned
• Build temporary protection including barricades, visqueen, floor protection, etc.
• General clean-up including vacuuming, sweeping, and rubbish removal
• Selective demolition of non-load bearing walls, ceilings, and flooring material and clean-up of all demolition debris
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements And Qualifications

• Relevant experience in commercial construction, preferred.
• OSHA 10, preferred.
• Operator's certificate, preferred.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs.
• Detail-oriented, well-organized, and ability to multi-task.
• Task-oriented, reliable, and committed to meeting deadlines.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Flexible availability, including some overtime, weekends, and night shifts.
