The Dougherty County Public Works Department is hiring on a continuous basis for a Laborer. This position is to safely and efficiently perform skilled and unskilled work including carpentry, masonry, construction, and custodial tasks.
Under general supervision, the Laborer may mix cement, lay bricks, operate power saws, maintain grounds, assist with road construction, or perform custodial duties as assigned, with work methods determined by department needs and conditions.

May be responsible for mixing cement, laying bricks, operating power saws, maintaining grounds, assisting with road construction, or performing custodial and housekeeping assignments. Work may vary dependent upon assigned department. This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences.
Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.
