Job summary

The University of Alabama at Birmingham is seeking a Laboratory Ventilation Specialist to help maintain a containment-focused ventilation program for biohazardous aerosols and volatile chemicals in the workplace. You will diagnose performance issues and perform required certifications for biosafety areas.

Responsibilities include conducting certification tests, implementing corrective actions, maintaining records, and coordinating with other departments to minimize disruption to lab operations

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Maintains records and certification data for lab ventilation systems.
• Performs certification tests on biosafety areas and systems.
• Coordinates with other departments to minimize disruption to laboratory activities.

Responsibilities

• Performs certification tests on biological safety areas and systems as required by applicable regulatory agency guidelines.
• Repairs or performs other corrective actions necessary to obtain acceptable certification.
• Generates and maintains appropriate records, reports and certification data for laboratory ventilation systems in accordance with applicable regulatory requirements.
• Works with other departments to ensure maintenance is performed with minimal disruption of laboratory activities.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
