Job summary

Prisma Health Urgent Care in Greenville, SC, is seeking a Laboratory Technologist (MLT) to perform high‑complexity testing and manage specimens with precision. You will ensure accuracy, maintain compliance, and contribute to a collaborative clinical-support team.

The role requires a CLIA‑compliant laboratory background, relevant degree(s), and comfort with 12‑hour shifts, weekends, and holidays. Training and certification opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• Meets CLIA, CMS and COLA requirements for high‑complexity testing.
• Bachelor’s or associate degree as listed; 60 semester hours with 24 science hours.
• RT-qPCR experience preferred; laboratory experience required.

Responsibilities

• Perform a broad range of lab testing, including RT-qPCR and high‑complexity testing.
• Receive, accession, and process biological specimens; resolve collection issues.
• Execute quality control procedures and corrective actions per protocols.
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment.
• Verify and report accurate results using EMR and instrument software.
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and HIPAA regulations.
• Maintain inventory of reagents and supplies; ensure cost‑effective use.
• Participate in proficiency testing and performance improvement initiatives.

What You’ll Do

• Perform a broad range of lab testing without direct supervision, including RT-qPCR procedures and high‑complexity testing
• Receive, accession, and process biological specimens; solve specimen collection and processing issues
• Execute and document quality control procedures and corrective actions per lab protocols
• Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment as needed
• Verify and report accurate results in a timely manner using EMR and instrument software systems
• Comply with OSHA, CLIA, COLA, and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and accuracy
• Maintain inventory of reagents and lab supplies; ensure cost‑effective utilization
• Participate in lab proficiency testing and continuous performance improvement initiatives

What You Bring to the Role

• Meets CLIA, CMS, and COLA requirements for high‑complexity testing:
• Bachelor’s in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology; OR
• Associate degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology; OR
• 60 semester hours including 24 hours in science/MLT coursework
• At least 3 months documented lab training in each tested specialty
• Knowledge of molecular laboratory techniques; RT-qPCR experience preferred
• Must have laboratory experience
• Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
• Effective communicator and collaborative team member
• Comfortable working 12‑hour shifts, weekends, and holidays
• Able to lift up to 25 pounds
