A leading healthcare provider is seeking a Medical Laboratory Technologist to join their team. In this role you will often perform phlebotomy on all ages of patients, and neonatal skin punctures. With your strong attention to detail, you have an ability to organize, set priorities, and multitask throughout the day. The scope of practice is a continuum ranging from basic to highly complex procedures and activities within the laboratory, utilizing your critical thinking and troubleshooting abilities. Here you will facilitate change positively by encouraging others and accepting change within the workplace.In this role you will have the opportunity to work both day and evening shifts, during the week and on weekends.This position may be filled by a qualified Medical Laboratory Technologist or alternatively a Combined Laboratory X-Ray Technologist.
As a Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) I, you will be responsible for the daily processing, testing, results analysis and reporting of diagnostic samples within the laboratory department. You will perform a variety of routine and specialized procedures in the processing of specimens used in diagnosis, treatment and research.
Completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology (MLT) program.Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Alberta (CMLTA).
Additional Required Qualifications:Experience working in core laboratory including hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, specimen procurement and handling, and transfusion medicine.Experience in phlebotomy.Experience using Microsoft programs.For CLXT applicants: Completion of diploma from an accredited program in Combined Laboratory and X-Ray Technology (CLXT). Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Combined Laboratory and X-ray Technologists (ACCLXT).
Preferred Qualifications:Minimum 1 year experience as a MLT or CLXT within Rural Zone laboratory is an asset.
