Job description

We're seeking an experienced Veterinary Lab Technician to join our team. You'll run a variety of tests (hematology, urinalysis, cytology, and more), operate lab equipment, and support our medical teams with fast, reliable results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform a wide range of diagnostic tests, including:
    • Hematology, chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, cytology, and microbiology
  • Operate and maintain laboratory equipment (e.g., IDEXX, Abaxis, microscope, centrifuges)
  • Prepare and process samples accurately and efficiently
  • Preparation, cytology slide staining, and interpretation support
  • Ensure accurate record keeping and timely entry of results into the hospital’s electronic medical records
  • Monitor quality control and troubleshoot equipment or procedural issues
  • Work closely with veterinarians and nursing staff from all departments to prioritize urgent cases
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the laboratory in accordance with hospital and safety protocols
  • Participate in training of new staff members as needed

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a veterinary or medical laboratory setting; referral or specialty hospital experience required
  • Proficiency in laboratory techniques and familiarity with common veterinary analyzers
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively under pressure
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Flexible schedule with availability for weekend or evening shifts as required
