Job summary

Cleveland Clinic Weston Hospital is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join the Laboratories team. You will perform diagnostic and consultative services, operate testing equipment, and support workflow to help deliver high-quality care.

The role requires handling specimens, ensuring accuracy, and adhering to accreditation standards. Shifts run 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. or 8:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m., with 1–2 shifts weekly.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Completion of three months of on-the-job training to learn department laboratory procedures, instrumentation and Cleveland Clinic policies.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

• Perform various laboratory procedures.
• Assist with receiving, identifying, accessioning, processing, transporting, and storing specimens.
• Operate laboratory equipment and perform routine instrument maintenance, trouble shooting and minor repairs.
• Perform Quality Assurance activities.
• Maintain adequate stock of supplies; performs inventory management of transporting and distributing supplies.
