General Responsibilities

• Perform field and/or laboratory testing, observation, and inspection of construction materials (e.g., soils, aggregates, concrete, asphalt, and steel).
• Communicate with project managers, engineering technicians, client representatives, contractors, and other stakeholders regarding site conditions, project requirements, and testing results.
• Transport material samples with documentation to the laboratory for testing and analysis.
• Prepare and submit data and observations in reports for daily transmittal to the Project Manager.
• Maintain and clean equipment, vehicles, and work areas.
• Assist with scheduling and dispatch of technicians to project sites.
• Adhere to strict safety standards.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities

• Perform testing, observation, and inspection according to training and procedures.
• Document findings clearly and accurately.
• Analyze data for accuracy before reporting.
• Communicate findings to the Project Manager and team.
• Possess proficiency in multiple testing areas and may train or lead other technicians.
• Maintain equipment and calibration.
• Follow safety protocols and report issues.
• Ensure quality standards are met.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 3-5 years of relevant experience or equivalent training.
• Experience with laptop use and Microsoft Word and Excel.

Certifications and Additional Requirements

• ACI certification in relevant areas (e.g., Concrete Testing Technician).
• Radiation safety and Nuclear Density Gauge operation certification.
• Welding or nondestructive testing certifications (e.g., AWS CWI, ASNT Level II).
• Relevant facility certifications (e.g., RRO).
• Successful completion of safety certifications.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable record.

Preferred Certifications

• NICET Level II in Construction Materials Testing or Geotechnical categories.
• ICC certifications in various structural and fireproofing categories.
• Additional NDT certifications (e.g., VT, MT, PT, RT, UT).
