Job summary

Labcorp is seeking a Laboratory Technician Trainee for our Durham, NC facility. The role supports testing workflows from specimen acceptance to result reporting, with a schedule of Sundays through Thursdays, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM.

The ideal candidate holds an Associate's degree in a chemical or biological science, and may have 3+ months of lab testing experience. Certification like ASCP/AMT is preferred, with flexibility for overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Assc. degree in Chemical or Biological science (CLIA standards).
  • Understanding of lab operations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing per SOPs.
  • Perform routine and complex procedures per SOPs.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation.
  • Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate test results for quality patient care.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and quality control.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies.
  • Assist with processing specimens as needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and PPE use.

LabCorp is seeking a Laboratory Technician Trainee to join our team at our facility in Durham, NC.

Work Schedule: Sunday - Thursday 8:00AM - 4:30PM

Job Responsibilities
  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Minimum Qualifications
  • Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification
Additional Job Standards
  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
