Job summary

Labcorp in Burlington, NC is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join the RIA team. The role supports specimen testing via standard and complex procedures, monitors instrumentation, and ensures quality results. New grads are welcome and comprehensive training is provided.

You will work a night schedule (Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00pm-7:30am) and contribute to safe, accurate patient care through careful testing, documentation, and collaboration with your team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology.
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience preferred.
  • ASCP or AMT certification preferred.
  • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may meet education requirements.
  • Understanding of laboratory operations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
  • Proficient with computers; familiarity with laboratory information systems.
  • High attention to detail with strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test.
  • Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria.
  • Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls.
  • Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care.
  • Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
  • Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
  • Assist with processing of specimens when needed.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate PPE.

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist Trainee to join our RIA team located in Burlington, NC!

Work Schedule

Tuesday-Saturday, 11:00pm-7:30am

Job Responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
Preferred Qualifications
  • 3 months or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • ASCP or AMT certification

  • In lieu of education requirements listed above, non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment

  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
