Job summary

Advocate Health in Charlotte, NC seeks a part-time education technician to support veterinary education and research activities in the IRCAD administration department. You will lead a team, supervise lab setups for courses, coordinate with course coordinators, and ensure proper use of equipment.

The role requires a BS degree or equivalent experience, 5 years in related fields, and AALAS certification. You will work in a fast-paced lab environment with a focus on education and compliance.

Major Responsibilities:

• Meets with laboratory leadership and/or coursesponsorto understandneedsforeducation courses or research sessions.Ensures that instrumentation and consumables are ordered for the lab.Advisessponsors and leadershipaboutavailable materials and equipment.

• Supervises the preparation of laboratory environment for professional education courses as outlined by course coordinator and laboratory leadership. Coordinates on site with course coordinator to ensure the laboratory environment best suits their needs.Communicatesany requested changes to leadership and other teammates.

• Conducts technical laboratory procedures and animalresearchanesthesia, surgery, and postoperative care toa high level.Assistsandinstructsother technicians with complex procedures.

• Monitorscareofresearch animalsassistswith surgical and technical procedures.Performs animal subject research following GLP practices.

• Assistsin organizing and coordinating the daily and weekly schedule of procedures to be performed.

• Monitors andmaintainslaboratory analytical equipment and suppliesand takesappropriate action.Assistsintroubleshooting ofequipment and software.

• Takesexperimental and clinical observations.Performs quality control onresearchdata and facility records.

• Updates laboratory and surgical procedures as needed.Assistsin drafting, editing, and amending IACUC protocols.

• Assistsin instructing personnel in the proper use of laboratory equipment and procedures.

Education Required:

• Bachelor'sof ScienceDegreerequiredorits equivalentin experience.

Experience Required:

• 5years ofexperience in veterinary medicine, research, medical education, or healthcare fieldrequired.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

• Ability tolead teams in a veterinary, research, or health care setting. Demonstrated ability to manage complexanesthetic and surgical cases. Ability to train and mentor junior technicians.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

• Work in fast paced office/laboratory environment. Requiresabilityto sit or stand forlong periodsof time.Ability to move and lift heavy objects.Each employee has the responsibility toworkin a safe manner.

Licensure, Registration, and/or Certification Required:

• RVT/LVT, AALAS certification
