Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan is seeking a Laboratory Technician II at our El Paso, Texas facility to support sample preparation and routine analyses for quality control. You will maintain lab instruments and assist in training staff, contributing to a safe, productive lab environment.

The position requires an Associates degree or at least one year of related lab experience, with opportunities to grow within a major copper production operation. Shift work may be needed for 24/7 coverage.

Qualifications

• One year of direct lab experience or an Associates degree with six months lab experience.
• Familiarity with lab protocols and equipment.
• Ability to train others in a specific lab area.

Responsibilities

Where You Will Work

Our rod and refining plant in El Paso, Texas, is a key contributor to our ranking as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of continuous cast copper rod – a main material used in the manufacturing of wire and cable products. The refinery has the potential to operate at an annual production capacity of about 900 million pounds of copper cathode, which is sufficient to refine all the copper anode we produce at our Miami operations in Arizona. The refinery also produces nickel carbonate, copper telluride and autoclaved slimes material containing gold, silver, platinum and palladium.

What You Will Do

• Prepare samples for analysis using appropriate techniques and performs sample preparation for quality control program.

What You Bring To Freeport

• One year of direct lab experience or Associates related degree which includes six months related lab experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of lab equipment, lab protocols and techniques appropriate to assigned areas.
• Demonstrated ability to train others in particular area of lab.

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $24.50 - $33.00/hour . This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
