Job summary

AgSource in Marshfield, WI seeks a Laboratory Technician I to accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses for drinking water, wastewater, and environmental testing in line with SOPs.

You will help ensure testing services meet target turnaround times, maintain quality controls, documentation, and safety, while supporting ongoing laboratory operations and inventory management.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED required.
  • 0 to 2+ years laboratory experience.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Detail oriented and meticulous in documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses according to SOPs.
  • Calibrate basic laboratory instrumentation.
  • Prepare samples and perform analyses with high accuracy.
  • Maintain calibration and solution logs and reports of analysis.
  • Report results in a timely manner within lab turn-times.
  • Perform quality control checks to ensure thresholds are met.
  • Document corrective actions for QC issues as needed.
  • Maintain lab workspace, prepare media/solutions, and manage inventory.
  • Promote safety and use PPE as required.
  • Inspect workspace and address hazards promptly.

Laboratory Technician I – Marshfield, WI
SUMMARY STATEMENT

The Laboratory Technician I will accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses for drinking water, wastewater and environmental testing according to approved standard operating procedures (SOP) and quality control guidelines.

This position will be responsible for ensuring testing services are conducted within anticipated laboratory turn-times.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Accurately prepare, conduct, and report sample analyses according to laboratory SOP for designated tests.
  • Calibrate basic laboratory instrumentation according to laboratory SOP.
  • Prepare samples and execute analysis with a high degree of accuracy to ensure quality results.
  • Thoroughly complete appropriate documentation including calibration logs, solution logs, scoop / bench sheets, reports of analysis and corrective action forms.
  • Report results of analysis in a timely manner according to standard laboratory turn-times.
  • Perform and monitor quality control checks for designated tests to ensure they fall within acceptable thresholds.
  • Assess corrective action steps for failing or inconsistent quality control checks and report to immediate supervisor.
  • Perform routine laboratory procedures such as media/solution preparation, cleaning of labware and laboratory workspaces, monitor and maintain supply inventory for designated tests.
  • Promote and adhere to safety in the workplace.
  • Use personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
  • Follow safe work procedures and report unsafe conditions and injuries immediately.
  • Inspect own work area and take approved remedial action to minimize or eliminate hazards.
REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven organizational and time management skills.
  • Detail orientated nature.
  • Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Office and Excel.
  • Scheduling flexibility and ability to work overtime as needed based on workflow and deadlines.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • 0 to 2+ years laboratory experience.
  • Bending, stooping, pulling/pushing, and twisting required.
  • Sitting, standing, bending, lifting, and moving consistently during working hours.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
