Job summary

Azenta Inc. seeks a Laboratory Technician I for the Overnight Sequencing team in Waltham, MA. Mon–Fri, 7 PM–3:30 AM EST shift. You will handle whole plasmid sequencing, follow SOPs, and process hundreds of samples daily in a collaborative setting.

You will perform sample prep, purification, and loading onto sequencers, with attention to detail and adherence to sterile techniques. Training and growth opportunities are provided.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• 1+ years of lab work experience preferred.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Position requires sitting and standing for 3 hours daily.
• Must bend, twist and walk for extended periods.
• Competent in Microsoft Office.
• Experience in production is preferred.
• Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Knowledge of sterile techniques and lab best practices.
• Ability to work autonomously and under pressure.
• Ability to learn and retain new concepts and tasks.
• Take ownership of actions and results.
• Team collaboration; flexible hours based on demand.

Responsibilities

• Maintain cleanliness of work area.

• Prepare sequencing templates including amplification and purification.

• Coordinate shipping prep to New Jersey location daily.
• Overtime and weekend shifts may be required.

How Will You Add Value

Laboratory Technician I is an entry-level position. We handle Whole Plasmid Sequencing in the Overnight Sequencing department. We strictly follow SOPs and focus on sorting and processing hundreds of customer samples per day. Processing includes preparing the samples further, purification, and loading the samples onto sequencing machines. We work as both individuals and as a team to form synergies and increase efficiency. We utilize biochemical techniques along with suitable equipment and tools for sequencing DNA such as micropipettes and multichannel pipettes.

What You'll Do

• Maintain cleanliness of work area
• Sort incoming samples
• Prepare a sequencing template, including preparation, amplification, and PCR purification.
• Assist in purifying sequencing templates and load samples onto sequencing machines.
• Perform quality processing with little errors
• May need to work with automation platforms
• Communicate with customers by email and phone in a friendly and professional manner
• Communicate with Internal team/employees via email and Phone
• Prepare save for prep samples to ship to our New Jersey Location Daily
• May require working overtime, and/or weekends. Alternative shifts may be assigned with advanced notice.
• All of the responsibilities from Lab Assistant.
• Other duties as assigned.

• LIMS experience is a plus.
