Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Tucson seeks a Laboratory Technician I - Mineral Processing to perform chemical and metallurgical analyses, maintain lab instrumentation, and prepare samples for testing at the Technology Center.

The role involves collecting samples, following established procedures, and contributing to accurate reporting while upholding safety standards in a 24/7 analytical environment. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and strong Excel skills.

• Demonstrated knowledge of math, chemistry and/or computer skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine chemical and/or metallurgical analytical tasks at assigned site.
• May collect samples which could include collection from rail cars or trucks in some locations
• Prepare samples for analysis using established tests and techniques.
• Assists with/performs routine chemical and/or metallurgical analysis and reporting.
• Maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment
• Perform other duties as required

What You Bring To Freeport

Preferred Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Experience with mathematic and/or numbers based tasks
• Experience with chemical sample preparation and/or analysis
• Ability to follow detailed, technical instructions
• Experience with tedious or repetitive motions or tasks
• Strong organizational and documentation skills
• Strong proficiency using MS Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets reports, and other documentation

What We Offer You

The estimated pay range for this role is currently$21.00 - $29.00/hour. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
