Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan in southeastern Arizona seeks a laboratory technician to perform routine and non-routine chemical and metallurgical analyses at the site. You will prepare samples and maintain instrumentation, contributing to accurate reporting and safe operations.

The role requires solid math/chemistry knowledge, good written and oral communication, and the ability to follow detailed instructions. A high school diploma or GED is required; experience with chemical sample preparation is a plus.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience with mathematic and/or numbers-based tasks.
• Experience with chemical sample preparation and/or analysis.
• Ability to follow detailed, technical instructions.
• Experience with tedious or repetitive motions or tasks.
• Strong organizational and documentation skills.
• Proficiency using MS Excel to develop and maintain spreadsheets/reports.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and non-routine chemical and/or metallurgical analytical tasks at assigned site.
• May collect samples from rail cars or trucks in some locations.
• Prepare samples for analysis using established tests and techniques.
• Assist with/performs routine chemical and/or metallurgical analysis and reporting.
• Maintain laboratory instrumentation and equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.
