Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. in Morenci, AZ seeks a Metallurgical Technical Analyst to support testing and analysis at our open-pit copper operation. You will work under supervision on metallurgical studies, prepare routine reports, and help evaluate equipment and processes.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry, or related engineering, with knowledge of processing analyses and strong safety practices. Preferred skills include Python, SQL, and Power BI for data tasks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Metallurgy, Chemistry or related Engineering discipline.
• Knowledge of basic principles and methods used in metallurgical and processing analyses.
• Able to conduct research and analyze information or considerable difficulty to draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions.
• Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, assists in providing technical support and advice in Metallurgical testing and analysis at assigned site.
• Assists in Metallurgical studies and conducting analyses
• Prepares standard reports on Metallurgical or process issues and assists in recommending appropriate action to resolve or correct issues
• Assists in reviewing new or enhanced Metallurgical testing equipment or protocols
• Assists in evaluating and administering contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment
• Develops and maintains an understanding of applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, State and Federal regulations applicable to area of assignment
• Performs other duties as required
