Job Title: Lab Technician I
Reports To: Laboratory Screening Supervisor
Department: New York Drug Testing and Research Program
Classification: Non-exempt
Supervises: No supervisory responsibilities
Job Summary: The New York Drug Testing and Research Program, located in Ithaca, NY, provides drug testing services for horse racing throughout the state of New York. This is a nationally recognized and accredited program that tests blood and urine samples in accordance with the rules and regulations of the New York State Gaming Commission. As part of this program, research and development studies are done to keep up with the demand of new and better means of detecting prohibited substances in horses.
This position is for an entry level Technician I. The technician will be responsible for routine sample preparation and testing using wet chemistry and ELISA
techniques, requiring close attention to detail and manual dexterity. Must be able to follow written standard operating procedures and complete proper documentation to ensure sample integrity. Will be required to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and complete said tasks in a timely and accurate
manner. Ensure compliance to safety regulations at all times.

Education and Experience: Associates degree in a relevant field with 0-6 month’s laboratory experience or equivalent combination of education
and experience is required.
Physical Conditions and Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Able to do repetitive motion and have good manual dexterity. Able to
lift 20-50lbs.
