CORE LABORATORIES LP is seeking a Laboratory Technician in Duchamp, Louisiana. This role involves performing routine laboratory analyses of pressurized petroleum crude oil and natural gas in a PVT lab environment.
Responsibilities include handling PVT studies, maintaining lab equipment, and assisting in data management while adhering to safety standards. Candidates should have a high school diploma, with further education preferred, and prior lab experience is a plus.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment are essential.
Performs routine laboratory analysis of pressurized petroleum crude oil and natural gas in a PVT laboratory environment. Conducts all aspects of PVT lab work under close supervision, including sample QC, pressurized transfers, saturation pressure measurements, flash separations, data reporting, and assists co‑workers.
Laboratory technicians must meet the following physical qualifications: pass the drug and alcohol test specified for safety‑sensitive employees; work in the presence of odors typical of petroleum or petrochemicals within OSHA‑designated permissible exposure limits; regularly stand, use hands to handle objects and controls, talk or hear, and test or smell; frequently walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms; occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; regularly lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds; keep close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Employees may be exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals. Personal protective equipment and engineering controls are provided. The noise level is usually moderate. Smoking and consuming food or drinks are not permitted in the laboratories.
