Job summary

Experis is seeking a Mechanical Laboratory Technician in Austin to support engineering and testing teams. The role focuses on setting up 3D printers, collecting data from sensors, and performing torque and thermal tests while documenting results.

The candidate will use SolidWorks for part review, interpret drawings, and generate simple models for lab use, with emphasis on attention to detail and cross-functional collaboration in a fast-paced hardware environment.

Qualifications

• Requires associates or bachelor’s in mechanical engineering technology, mechanical engineering, or related field, or equivalent hands-on lab experience.
• Experience operating physical test and measurement equipment in a lab or manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data entry, formulas, and organized data logging.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical datasheets, schematics, and drawings.
• Strong written communication to produce clear measurement reports.

Responsibilities

• Operate and set up 3D printers to produce test fixtures, brackets, and prototype parts.
• Install, condition, and record data from strain gauges and measurement equipment.
• Configure and run torque measurement and thermal tests, including calibration and data capture.
• Perform mechanical assembly testing, verify fits, and document results accurately.
• Use CAD software like SolidWorks to review parts, interpret drawings, and generate simple models or drawings for lab use.
