The anatomic pathology accessioning and specimen receiving team is the central intake point for surgical pathology, cytology, and histology specimens that drive accurate diagnoses. In this detail-focused role, you’ll receive, verify, accession, and route specimens while protecting the integrity, patient identification accuracy, and regulatory compliance of all specimens across the full anatomic pathology workflow. You’ll collaborate closely with histology, cytology, grossing, and pathology teams to keep cases moving efficiently from receipt through diagnosis. To perform all duties related to the preparation, distribution, cataloging, and storage of lab specimens for testing. To adhere to departmental specimen identification policies and quality controls. To utilize lab and hospital information systems and provide general administrative support to the laboratory staff in support of laboratory operations, such as filing, record maintenance, responding to client calls, and mail delivery.
High School diploma or equivalent required. Depending on the unit/department or if the position works directly with patients, Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association (AHA) may be required or required to be obtained within 30 days of employment.
