Job summary

Mindlance is seeking a Laboratory Technician to join its entomology testing team in Indianapolis, IN. The role involves work with insects, plant material, and nematodes across laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary environments, with a strong emphasis on safety and SOP adherence. A BS in Biology or Entomology is required.

Responsibilities

• Clip and thinning of plants used in testing.
• Hands-on infesting of plant and artificial diet material with various (non-stinging, non-hazardous) insect species.
• Routine assay formulation using manual pipettes.
• Specialized assay application using hand sprayers and track sprayers.
• Laboratory maintenance (cleaning, restocking, etc.).
• Grading insect assays.
• Preparation of media used in entomology testing.
• Scribing for evaluators.

Job Description

Wanted: individual capable of working with insects, plant material, and nematodes while completing routine, highly detailed work. Previous laboratory experience preferred. Work environments vary throughout the day between laboratory, greenhouse, and insectary colonies. Strong culture of safety requires individuals to adhere to all safety and ergonomic standards. Extensive training in safety, ergonomics, and laboratory SOPs provided.

Basic tasks may include

• Clipping/thinning plants used in testing.
• Hands-on infesting of plant and artificial diet material with various (non-stinging, non-hazardous) insect species.
