Raba Kistner is seeking a detailed-oriented, dependable Laboratory Technician to join our Consultants team in the New Braunfels, TXarea. The Laboratory Technician will be responsible for sampling, processing, and testing materials in accordance with established procedures and specifications, including proper documentation of testing results. These methods include American Society for Testing & Materials (ASTM), American Association of State Highway & Transportation Officials (AASHTO), Department of Transportation (DOT), US Corp of Engineers, etc. Other responsibilities include:
Qualifications
If no certifications are currently held, will be required to obtain at least one of the industry certifications as designated by supervisor with support of the firm, within six months of employment. Employment contingent upon meeting these requirements. Good oral and written communications skills, ability to read and understand procedures, specifications, instruction, labels, reports, etc. Must have some knowledge of basic math and science to analyze lab results.

While performing the functions of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, stop, and talk. Regularly required to lift and/or move up to 70 pounds (with or without assistance from others) to include, but not limited to, sample containers and equipment. Daily required to use hands and reach. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, far vision, vision, peripheral vision, focus vision and depth vision. Work environment includes potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to implement and follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment. Regular use of non-complex machines, tools, and equipment; must also possess the dexterity to utilize delicate and small laboratory equipment. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs. Work may require out-of-town/overnight travel to Raba Kistner offices, client offices, and project locations.
