Job summary

Schlumberger Limited is seeking a Laboratory Technician to deliver safe, efficient PSD services to customers. You will perform QA tests on company products, prepare lab reports, and provide advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of laboratory experience in oil & gas, energy, chemicals, manufacturing, environmental testing, or related industries.
  • Associate degree or higher in Chemistry or related field.
  • Hands-on sample preparation and basic wet chemistry.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC, data integrity, and calibration.
  • Experience with LIMS, spreadsheets, and test reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure lab deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Develop the competency to perform advanced additive selection and fluid design.
  • Ensure laboratory equipment is clean and maintained; dispose waste properly.
  • Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure standards are met.
  • Assist Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions with technical support.
  • Perform risk analysis before tasks to identify and mitigate safety/quality concerns.
  • Participate in Service Quality Meetings with customers and drive improvements.
  • Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives.
  • Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.
  • Maintain required safety training.

Job description

The Laboratory Technician is responsible for delivering safe, efficient, and reliable PSD to customers. The Laboratory Technician identifies opportunities to improve service delivery. This person performs quality assurance tests on company products, prepares laboratory reports prior to service delivery at the wellsite, and provides advanced technical support during additive selection and fluid design. The Laboratory Technician maintains contact with the Client Support Labs and/or operating locations, product centers and the InTouch repository.

  • Ensure job deliverables are accurate and delivered on time.
  • Develop the competency level required to perform advanced additive selection and fluid design.
  • Ensure that laboratory equipment is in clean, working condition and that waste is regularly disposed.
  • Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers.
  • Perform regular audits to ensure the laboratory operates according to required standards.
  • Assist the Design/Technical Engineer and Product Champions with technical support as required.
  • Perform risk analysis before each task or job to identify and mitigate potential safety or quality concerns.
  • Participate in Service Quality Meetings with customers and improve performance using action plans.
  • Participate in HSE and Quality initiatives.
  • Wear PPE and observe HSE policies.
  • Maintain the required safety training.
Required Qualifications
Education
  • Associate degree, technical diploma, or bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, Chemical Engineering Technology, or a related scientific/technical field.
Experience
  • 1–3 years of laboratory experience in oil & gas, energy, chemicals, manufacturing, environmental testing, or related industries (entry-level candidates with strong lab internships may be considered).
Technical Skills
  • Hands-on experience with sample preparation, basic wet chemistry, and routine analytical testing.
  • Understanding of calibration, QA/QC practices, and data integrity principles.
  • Comfort working with digital tools (LIMS, spreadsheets, test reporting systems).
