It is the responsibility of Laboratory technician to ensure that products comply with specifications by performing necessary testing and stability and compatibility studies.

Position Purpose

The Laboratory Technician at Bayport Laboratories participates in the Research and Development of new formulas under the supervision of Senior Chemists and Research and Development President. It is the responsibility of Laboratory technician to ensure that products comply with specifications by performing necessary testing and stability and compatibility studies.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

• Performs testing on raw materials, components, in-process, and finished products as needed
• Assists chemists in formulation preparation and stability evaluation of batches to meet standards and specifications
• Performs testing on laboratory equipment as needed
• Assists with stability monitoring practices and procedures
• Calculates ingredient amounts for laboratory batches
• Weighs raw materials according to formula requirements
• Prepares batches by combining and processing ingredients, observing and recording characteristics, and adjusting colors as needed
• Conducts physical tests on samples to ensure product specifications are met
• Maintains accurate records following good documentation practices
• Follows laboratory safety standards and maintains an organized, safe work environment

Qualifications

Education/Certification: AS/BS in Chemistry, Science, or Biology, or relevant laboratory experience in cosmetics/personal care manufacturing

Required Knowledge:

• Experience in laboratory testing preferred
• Ability to organize and prioritize tasks
• Color distinction ability required
• Knowledge of metric weights and measures required

Experience Required:

• 3 years in a laboratory or manufacturing environment related to cosmetics/personal care products preferred
